by TLS North East Transition Students The TLS North East – Johnstown transition class – high school age – took a recent trip to Road Runner Rascals Alpaca Ranch and had a lot to say about the day. Today we went to the Alpaca farm. The first alpaca I saw was Satin. I thought maybe I could use an alpaca to ride on, but Mrs. Amy said NO, absolutely not at all, “horses or donkeys is what you ride on.” I was playing with them a little bit, but they were shy and ran from me. I was told to sit still and they could come to me, but the alpacas didn’t do it. I asked the farmer what the one in front of me was. “Her name is Dory,” the farmer said, so I did get sniffed on the hand by one of them too, “Thank you,” I said. I liked them so much that I wanted to do it again the same day. Then after, we did farm work there too. I got to dump and fill buckets with water! What fun!!! Then after that we all headed back except the farmer. We went back to school. — Cam Journal about the Alpaca Farm today, by Charlie
I had the best time at the alpaca farm today. We got to see the alpacas, petted one of them, and explored their field. Cameron and Charlie were scaring them. We got to fill the buckets for giving water to them. They were so cute, especially the babies. We got to see inside the store. It was pretty relaxing out there in the field. The people in charge there told us about them. When I was behind some alpacas, I had the best trick up my sleeve. Too bad we got to say goodbye to the alpacas, but it was still fun. — Seth
My favorite thing about the alpaca farm was to see all those cute little baby alpacas. They made my eyes go big, once I first saw them. Plus, they were so little and adorable. Another thing was, that the alpaca doesn’t spit at humans, it was a stinky, tall llama. One alpaca came close to me in the field and sniffed me. I love the way they walk too. They walk like my cat Biscuit, she has so much attitude. Also, I saw their wool, there was a lot on their body. I think I might come back one time. Plus, I love it there. — Zach Z.
