Teens on the spectrum - join us this summer for the Learning 4 Life Farm Transition Summer Camp 2023!
This four-week summer program provides full day programming Monday through Thursday from 9am to 3pm for students on the autism spectrum ages 13 through 18.
Camp helps students prepare for life’s challenges with hands-on job practice on our site and at local businesses, resume writing, and practical life applications. Daily alpaca care and gardening, beekeeping, field trips to local businesses, resume writing and interviews, life skills and more!
L4L Farm Transition Summer Camp starts Monday June 19, 2023 and ends Thusday July 21,2023. NO CAMP JULY 3rd- JULY 6TH
Summer Camp runs Monday – Thursday at Learning 4 Life Farm located at TLS North East on Rt. 62 just east of Johnstown, Ohio. Student drop off at L4L Farm/TLS North East is 9am and pickup is 3pm.
Our summer camp program provides crucial mental health and educational support for students on the autism spectrum during the summer months, when school-year programming is not available. Learning 4 Life Farm Summer Camp is part of The Learning Spectrum (TLS) educational programming.
Campers will spend the majority of each day (9am to 3pm, Monday- Thursday) on classroom instruction based around a transition curriculum emphasizing executive functioning skills, managing basic personal finances, job interest identification, creating a resume, job search and interview skills.
Students will take weekly 2-hour field trips to local partner businesses to practice job skills.
Camp students wil spend 1 hour per day caring for and working with our Learning 4 Life Farm alpaca herd, including animal care, stall and pasture cleanup and management, and opportunities to interact with the animals in an informal animal assisted therapy setting.
Students will have the chance to get to know the animals and spend time with them accoding to their personal comfort level: observing, petting the animals and walking with out alpacas on a harness when appropriate.
The learning spectrum is developing an animal assisted apaca therapy program overseen by staff Social Woker,Molly Bochenek, MSW, LISW-S, CTP-C.

Campers will spend 30 minutes to an hour each week participating in our beekeeping program, monitoring our on-site honey beehives for hive health, learning about bee safety and biology, and assisting our master beekeeper with basic beekeeping tasks. Protective clothing will be worn, students may choose to observe from a distance, and alternate activities will be available for students with a bee allergy.
Students will spend 1-3 hours per day working in our student gardens: our raised bed vegetable, herb and cut flower gardens, our garden containing Ohio native pollinator plants, and our heated and unheated hoop houses. Campers will run a dialy student vegetable, herb and flower farm stand open to parents and the community.
