On-farm Transition Job Training for Ages 14+ on the Autism Spectrum and Related Disabilities
Learning 4 Life Farm is a 7-acre job training alpaca farm, with gardens, beehives and an on-site workshop and Farm Market serving central Ohio students on the autism spectrum and related disabilities. Learning 4 Life Farm is a nonprofit subsidiary of The Learning Spectrum LLC, (TLS). We are located in Johnstown, Ohio, about 20 minutes east of New Albany in Licking County.
Participants are involved in every aspect of running our farm, developing both hard job skills - caring for our alpacas, gardens and farm market - and soft skills - building stamina, working as a team, multi-step tasks - that lead to success in the work place and increased independence.
Alpaca Care & Handling |
Our program includes alpaca care, handling & pasture management. Participants learn to care for our alpacas - cleaning the barn and pen, providing feed and water, and monitoring animal health. Every participant has the opportunity to interact with our alpacas at their comfort level - from observing the animals at a distance, petting and feeding, or harnessing and walking the animals. Participants build a relationship with our alpacas and gain confidence as they grow their handling skills. |
Our Gardens
Participants grow vegetables, herbs, cut flowers and native Ohio perennial plants in over 5000 square feet of raised bed gardens, two hoop house greenhouses, and almost a full acre of pollinator gardens.
Our gardens teach job and life skills and provide science education and informal horticultural therapy. With our two hoop house or high-tunnel greenhouses, participants can garden nearly year-round, out of the elements in the cooler months. Our on-site Farm Market and pop-up Farm Stands teach retail and social skills and provide vegetables and flowers to the community. |

We would love to meet with you and your staff and discuss the possibility of bringing your students to our farm for transition job training this school year and beyond. Our program offerings include opportunities for your students on the autism spectrum and related disabilities to gain job and life skills at our farm through hands-on alpaca care, gardening, and working in our workshop and Farm Market.
