Learning 4 Life Farm Volunteers and Interns - Background Check Required
Beginning with our 2022 season, Learning 4 Life Farm volunteers and interns age 18 and over who will be onsite are required to complete an FBI fingerprinted background check, at their own expense, and have the background check agency submit the results to Learning 4 Life Farm. This protects our students, our minor-age volunteers, and you as a volunteer.
- We recommend the Licking County Educational Service Center or the Franklin County ESC, or your local county Educational Service Center. You do need to make an appointment online in advance. Since we are an educational program our volunteers qualify to get fingerprint background checks through the ESC. Cost is about $35. We do ask that our volunteers pay this expense and we do not reimburse our staff or volunteers for this cost.
- Make an appointment for an Ohio FBI Fingerprint Background Check. You will go in to their location and they will get your fingerprints and then run the background check.
- An FBI Background Check is required in ODE code 3319.39B1
- Please have results electronically sent to ODE, emailed to ahurst@thelearningspectrum.com and a hard copy mailed to Learning 4 Life Farm, 3060 Johnstown Utica Rd, Johnstown OH 43031
- Federal BCI background check is good for 3 years and will then need renewed.
- If you recently had a background check (within the past year) you can call the service that did the background check and have them send a report to the above email address and mailing address.
- Questions? Call Amy at 740-759-7099 or email l4l@thelearningspectrum.com
Thank you so much for your willingness to invest in our Farm and go through this process - we highly value our volunteers and you are crucial for the continued success of our job training program for young people on the autism spectrum.
