Our alpacas are thriving, and we welcomed 2 barn cats, Lucy and Ethel, earlier last year! They have happily kept our mouse numbers down, and have been a great addition to the barn.
Through grants, two new sheds have been purchased for our property to house equipment, our heated hoop house is fully operational, and we have additional parking spaces available at the barn. Our first-ever Alpaca Hop took place in March, with a wonderful turnout despite poor weather. The Alpaca Trot had a whole new look this year, with vendors, a bouncy house, and a band. To round out the year, our Holiday Hot Cocoa & Craft Open House was a wonderful success, bringing together new faces and longtime supporters to celebrate the season and our mission. We have had the pleasure of reaching more students this year, with regular groups now attending from The Learning Spectrum, New Story Columbus, and The Licking County ESC. Westerville City Schools also visited us for a field trip. In November, we began our Pilot Transition Program with a group of five amazing students from The Learning Spectrum Central. They are participating in our program on a weekly basis, and are already showing progress. We can't wait to see what the future holds for these young adults! The growing season was successful, and our produce was sold on site, at Happy Dog in Alexandria, and now at Troyer's Marketplace in Johnstown. Over 100 pounds of tomatoes were donated to local food pantries! Learning 4 Life Farm would not be where it is today without the incredible support of our community. We are deeply grateful for the individuals, organizations, and families who have supported us throughout 2024. Your contributions, whether through volunteering, attending events, or purchasing our products, have made a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the animals at the farm. As we approach the new year, we are excited for the continued growth and opportunities that lie ahead. In 2025, we plan to expand our offerings, enhance our programs, and, of course, introduce new furry friends to our farm family. Thank you once again for being part of our journey. We wish you a joyful holiday season and a prosperous New Year!
